The Big Plastic Count 2024
This year, our Eco-Committees on both sites led us in taking part in the Big Plastic Count. We share our results with MPs in Parliament as part of Youth Empowerment Day.

What is the Big Plastic Count?
Greenpeace and Everyday Plastic teamed up to run The Big Plastic Count.
In 2022 nearly 250,000 people from schools, households and communities across the country made The Big Plastic Count the biggest investigation into UK household plastic waste. It showed that almost 100 billion pieces of plastic are thrown away in the UK each year, with hardly any of it recycled.
This year, we gathered more, game-changing evidence that will push the government to take bold action on plastic.
For one week, classes and children at Bonner counted and tallied every bit of plastic waste that went into the bin to identify where most of this waste ends up. Look at our surprising results here:
Bonner at Parliament!
As part of this campaign, 3 representatives from our Eco-Committee were lucky enough to go to the House of Parliament to speak to MPs about the need to reduce plastic waste. We were so proud of how passionate and knowledgeable they were when speaking to the MPs and asking them to take action! We even made the news!
